Website Renovations Activated...

It has been extremely hard to find time to work on the website during this past year. Working 10 hour days plus half a day of Saturday does not leave much time to put in the time necessary to bring the quality website that represents Phyllis and Janey's endeavors over the past 6 years. However, it is a top priority to complete the renovation and website optimizations.

Almost completed...

We are in the final stages of making our website more navigable! Instead of having design pages plus product pages, I have cut out the product pages. When I am finish you will only see the design pages, paper doll pages and the admin pages in PJ's Corner Gift Shoppe.

As you can see in this screen print, I am working on the Travel Memories 'n' Fun page.

Tonight I figured out how to link the individual item back to the website! I added the html coding for adding a hyperlink in a blog comment into the description of the item in ProStores and it worked! I will add links as I complete the pages in this list of paper doll pages that I need to revamp:

Product by Design...

I was able to finish the main page for our Paper Dolls, Sunday night. Monday was an errand day and when I got back to the workshoppe, I found out that my satellite service was not working. A new modem for the satellite service is on its way and should be here by Thursday at the earliest. After much frustration at not being able to do anything on my website or blogs, I powered cycled the modem one more time a couple of hours ago and I have satellite service!!!

Now back to work...

More progess on the website and store front...

Last night or should I say early this morning before I went to sleep for the night, I completed the "Product by Occasions" link in the footer. I am working toward the goal of optimizing our website. The goal is quite formidable, however I have found documenting my progress on this blog has focused my sights on the finished product.

In a Google search to find "blog message boards", I ran across a business blog with a post about this very subject. Wayne Hurlbert of Blog Business World wrote a very informative and interesting post about Blog message boards: A blog traffic builder.

In the post he lists, with links, several message boards. This will be an important step in PJ's SEO (search engine optimization) campaign.

Website Update Progress...

Well, it looks like we will be keeping ProStores as our store front. I have been working on the website for the past couple of days and because of phone calls and regular office work, I have not gotten as far along as I would like.

I've completed the following pages:

• PJ's Paper Dolls - Main
  

With each page on the site, I linked each item to its page in the store, created a nameplate (like the one in this post) and connected the pages to the new shared border footer. I am in the middle of working on PJ's Paper Doll page. After creating a table of contents on this page, I found out that we have 63 paper dolls so far! But that is not counting all of the paper dolls in the "Friends of the World" and "Twins of the World" sets. I'll count those tomorrow!

All of the links to the pages in the site are set up in three categories.

2. Product by Occasions
   
3. Product by Article

Both the Design and Article links are listed in the footer. I will need to add the Occasion links next.
